...drove for 6 hours straight and apparently didn’t have the presence of mind to check her fluids before doing so. When she got to town she then drove it around all weekend while she was here, then tried to leave on Monday and got all of 15 miles from here before she cooked the engine.

this one gave it’s last breathes rolling off the trailer into this spot. If anyone is wondering it’s an 05 Saturn Vue with the 4 cylinder and a manual transmission.

Original air filter at 160000 km, all torn and soggy.

Combine with bald rear tires in winter and it was probably wot spinning in place quite often.

The van originally came in crank no start, checked a few things and noticed massive errors in vvt angles while cranking, lifted valve cover and found cam angles to be incorrect, started teardown for a timing set + phasers and found sand in everything. The engine oil was full of bearing material, so the teardown was stopped, job changed to engine R&R.

2019 Chevy Express 2500 Cargo... The wire is routed inbetween the rotor and heat shield. It is supposed to be inboard of the heat shield. Wiring harnesses generally do not hold up well to the 400+ degree temps of hot rotors on cargo vans.

Vauxhall insignia 2.0cdti, dash has an oil quality meter that when it gets to zero means it needs an oil change. Driver thought it was an oil level meter, to be fair it’s actually not totally obvious, and added oil, then more oil. Thought something was up when it would rev up on its own when stopped and smoked a lot. Suspect it briefly ran on its engine oil through the breather system when they came to a stop at lights.

What you’re looking at is the spider out of a differential with the torched-off axle shafts stuck in it. Some nitwit put in an axle shaft that was too long. He used the studs to just force it the last 1/2" or so. Well, it friction welded. Whole 3rd member had to be torched to pieces to get this out.

Yep, I feel like shops that get some of these awful cars should tack on some $200-300 cleaning fee, and send it off to a cleaner if the customer accepts. No one should feel they have to work on that.

This was a smog, and I’ve never turned away a car for being gross before. I’ve sucked it up and put on extra gloves and then burned the uniform I was wearing. But this was extra special gross, and I knew it would fail, so thag meant it would have to come back again, so that was the final straw for me.

Oh and it was raining so it was extra special smelly.

When I own a shop and something comes in like that I would basically refuse to work on it for sanitary reasons. But if they insist then I'll tell them we'll have to get it cleaned and charge them for it. Let them write a bad review, the only people who would care would have cars in similar states of decay.

I was too young to die so I didn’t investigate.

But I think it's a combination of bird food, peanuts, and other bits of trash and food.

I had one which poured rodent turd like sand though an hourglass when you removed any bolt from the dash. And one “skinbox” car. Remember Goldmember saving one for the skinbox?   he drove a ‘99 saturn.  (It was blackGOLD! for good measure)
